What is a Word Finder?
Word Finder is a web application that acts as a word lookup database - imagine a better, faster, and more advanced dictionary. You can use Word Finder to find words that use these letters, also Word Finder is designed to help anyone who enjoys playing word games. Word Finder can be used by kids to help them with homework, or by adults who need a quick word lookup when playing a game of Scrabble, Words With Friends, or Wordfeud.
If you are interested in a game-specific word finder or cheat, we have created a Scrabble Word Finder and a Words With Friends cheat, which use the official dictionaries and scoring systems when returning results.
How to use our Word Finder?
Using our word finder is super-easy, so easy that a child could use it. All you have to do is input your letters into the letter field above and click the search icon to get all words that can be made with your letters. If you have a "blank" or "unknown" letter then we have created a special character just for you. Replace your unknown letters with either an underscore (_) or a question mark (?), so that our Word Finder knows it has to try every possible letter.

Advanced Usage
To start using advanced options, you have to click on the "Show Advanced Options" button below the letter input field.
Our Word Finder has a total of 5 different advanced options: "Starts With X", "Ends With X", "Contains X", "Word Length", and "Dictionary Type".
Below, you will learn more about each of those features and how you can use them to your advantage.
Starts With X
If you are only interested in words that begin with a specific letter (or letters) then you can use the "Starts With X" option to filter the search results.
Example
If you type "MO" into the "Starts With X" option field, you will only get words that begin with the letters "MO", such as "MOON" and "MORE", but our Word Finder will not show you words like "MAN".
Ends With X
If you are only interested in words that end with a specific letter (or letters) then you can use the "Ends With X" option to filter the search results.
Example
If you type "ED" into the "Ends With X" option field, then our Word Finder will only show you words that have the letters "ED" at the end, such as "RED" and "FRIED", but Word Finder will not show you words like "BANANA" and "MELON".
Contains X
If you are only interested in words that contain a specific letter (or letters) then you can use the "Contains X" option to filter the search results.
Example
Word Finder will return "BEGIN" if you look for words that contain the letter "G". Word Finder will not return words like "GIFT" because the letter "G" is not included in the "Contains X" setting.
Word Length
If you are only interested in words of a specific length (number of letters), then you can use the Word Length option to filter the search results. Word Finder will only return words that have the length you specify.
Example
Word Finder will return "BEGIN" if you look for words that have 5 letters. Word Finder will not return "COMPUTER" because the word has 8 letters when "Word length" is set to 5.
Dictionary Type
If you are only interested in words from a specific Word Finder dictionary, then you can use the "Dictionary Type" option to select the dictionary that suits your use case.
Currently, our Word Finder has 6 different dictionary types: All English Dictionaries, Scrabble US, Scrabble UK, Scrabble IT, Scrabble FR, and Words With Friends.
All English Dictionaries include all English words. Scrabble US uses the word list from official United States Scrabble tournaments. Scrabble UK uses the word list from official United Kingdom Scrabble tournaments and so on.
Results
After setting your search preferences, Word Finder will show you all of the words that meet your search criteria. The search results will be ordered first by word length and then alphabetically.
If you would like to order the results by the number of points they give in a specific game then we recommend using a game-specific word finder, such as Scrabble Word Finder or Words With Friends cheat.
If you want to change the order of the results then you can use Word Finder's sort feature located at the top-right of the results box.
